The NHF Global Health Program is actively addressing border health challenges along the Thailand-Myanmar border, particularly in response to the surge in cross-border migration following Myanmar’s 2021 military coup. By contributing to academic discussions and engaging with policymakers, NHF ensures that humanitarian aid and public health initiatives align with national policies.
In collaboration with the Institute of Asian Studies at Chulalongkorn University, Community Partners International, and Mae Tao Clinic, NHF co-hosted a series of stakeholder consultancy meetings in 2024. These meetings aimed to identify public health priorities, strengthen collaboration among healthcare organizations, and tackle critical challenges such as patient care, health financing, capacity building, workforce management, supply chain coordination, disease surveillance, and health information systems.
These meetings have brought together government representatives, NGOs, and academic institutions to develop actionable solutions, including vaccination campaigns, improved insurance coverage, and recruitment of Myanmar healthcare professionals.
