The Border Health Humanitarian Assistance and Health Security (BHHA) project explores the evolving public health and humanitarian situation along the Thailand–Myanmar border following the political crisis in Myanmar. Led by the National Health Foundation (NHF) in collaboration with academic and policy partners, the study examines healthcare needs, service delivery challenges, humanitarian responses, and policy gaps affecting displaced populations, migrants, refugees, host communities, and frontline health providers.
Through stakeholder consultations, focus group discussions, field visits, and policy analysis, the project identifies opportunities to strengthen border health governance while balancing humanitarian principles and national health security considerations. The findings contribute to the development of evidence-informed border health policy recommendations, including improved coordination mechanisms, support for frontline health services, workforce development, cross-border public health collaboration, and sustainable approaches to humanitarian health assistance in complex and conflict-affected settings.
