Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, NHF acts as a core partner of the International Decision Support Initiative (iDSI), a global network of health, policy and economic institutions working to achieve Universal Health Coverage and the health Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3). In this work, NHF and iDSI global partners support countries to make better decisions regarding how public money is spent on healthcare, primarily through the effective use of health technology assessments (HTAs).
In particular, NHF supports the Southeast Asia Partnership for Policy and Health Intervention Research and Evaluation (SAPPHIRE), an HTA consortium that aims to provide health, policy, and economic support to governments of low- and middle-income countries in order to foster adoption of evidence-based and efficient healthcare decisions. Working alongside regional partners, technical assistance to supported countries will focus on setting local priorities for achieving UHC with the aim of maximizing the value of health spending and increasing the associated impact on population health.
SAPPHIRE consortium members include:
- Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP)
- Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS)
- Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU)
